Trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the European Union countries reached 1.35 billion euros in 2021, up 45 percent from 755.7 million euros in 2020, Trend reports referring to Eurostat.
Last year, Turkmenistan’s total exports to the EU totaled 517.15 million euros, an increase more than twice compared to 249.93 million euros in 2020.
Turkmenistan’s total imports from the EU totaled 837.88 million euros in 2021, a 35 percent increase over the previous year’s total of 505.77 million euros.
In 2021, Turkmenistan's top three major export destinations in the EU were Romania with goods worth 238.12 million euros (79.05 million euros in 2020), Cyprus with goods worth 81.79 million euros, and Italy with goods amounted to 60.36 million euros (103.22 million euros in 2020).
Last year, the top three major EU exporting countries to Turkmenistan were Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands.
During the reporting period, Turkmenistan imported from Italy goods worth 412.08 million euros compared to 44.72 million euros in 2020, from Germany goods amounted to 179.07 million euros compared to 167.34, and from the Netherlands, 57.41 million euros, compared to 40.15 million euros in 2020.
