Azerbaijan, Baku, 23 September / Trend corr S.Aliyev/ On 22 September, ВР Azerbaijan, operator of Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) bloc of fields, presented environmental impact assessment of the project on improvement of oil production from the fields.

In conformity with the project, the company intends to set up a new platform to produce oil from the Balakhani Svita (layer). Seven platforms are operating on the ACG. The new platform will be set up between platforms in the Chirag and Gunashli fields.

Oil reserves of the project are estimated to comprise 331mln barrels. Twenty-eight production and seventeen injection wells will be drilled from the new platform, construction of which will be completed in 2013. First oil will be produced in the third quarter of 2013. Daily production will total 185,000 barrels of crude and 60mln cu foots of gas.

Advance drilling will be carried out from floating Dada Gorgud rig so as to intensify implementation of the project.

BP's Sangachal terminal, from which Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipe originates, will be expanded within the project.

Development of Balakhani Svita requires construction of two new platforms. One of them is required for Chirag and the deep part of Gunashli, the second for the western, eastern and central parts of Azeri.

ВР intends to construct new platforms to expand the project on full-scale development of Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field through production of oil from new layers. That regards Balakhani Svita which contains 350mln barrels of oil.

Through extra oil production from new layers, the company intends to maintain high production as long as possible. Completion of a platform in Chirag in 2013 will enable oil production of 100,000 barrels per day and will prolong stable production for one more year. The same is expected from construction of a platform in Azeri in 2015.
