IGI Poseidon S.A. and Bulgarian Energy Holding EAD incorporated the Natural Gas Interconnector Greece Bulgaria EAD company on Dec. 28 in Sofia, which will be responsible for the development, construction and operation of the new Greece-Bulgaria IGB pipeline. The pipeline will be a part of the ITGI project.
The IGB pipeline project will be a part of the ITGI pipeline - a project under the South Corridor - envisaging gas supplies from the Caspian region and the Middle East to the EU. Azerbaijan is considered to be the major supply source for South Corridor projects.
The ITGI includes updated Turkish pipeline infrastructure, as well as the ITG and IGI projects.
IGI Poseidon SA was created by the Italian company Edison and the Greek company Depa to design and construct the Greece-Italy pipeline, also known as Poseidon.
