SOCAR supplies over one billion cubic meters of gas to Georgian market in first half-year

In the first half-year SOCAR Energy Georgia which represents the interests of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Georgia, supplied about 1.13 billion cubic meters of gas to the Georgian market compared to more than 774.42 million cubic meters in the first quarter of this year, SOCAR told Trend on Tuesday.

According to the report, approximately 319.5 million cubic meters of the total volume of supplied gas accounted for commercial gas with the remaining 809.7 million cubic meters as domestic gas.

In 2011, SOCAR Energy Georgia supplied more than 1.7 billion cubic meters of gas to the Georgian market. About 564,050 million cubic meters of the total volume of gas delivered to the Georgian market accounted for the commercial and more than 1.15 billion cubic meters domestic gas, the report said.

In November 2008, Azerbaijan and Georgia signed an agreement that created an opportunity to activate SOCAR activities on the Georgian gas market over the next five years, beginning in 2009. Under a contract, SOCAR, in order to implement the project, created the subsidiary SOCAR Georgia Gas which provides consumer groups as defined by the Georgian government.

SOCAR and the Georgian government signed an agreement at the end of December 2008 on the transfer of 30 gas distribution farms and distribution networks control covering different regions of Georgia.
