Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, April 19 / Trend, H. Hasanov /
Operations for the rapid provision of the necessary facilities and commissioning of the "Galkynysh" field located in Mary region are underway in Turkmenistan. The infrastructure of gas production and gas processing facilities is being created. It has been calculated to the amount of 30 billion cubic meters of gas a year, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper said today.
The article referring to the field development department said that the largest investment project worth about $ 10 billion is planned to be implemented soon and the first phase of the field development is planned to be completed by the middle of the year.
The project includes the drilling of several dozen exploitation wells, construction of commercial gas pipelines, four installations for preliminary preparation of gas and three gas desulphurization plants with a total capacity of 30 billion cubic meters of tank gas per year.
Contractors such as Hyndai Engineering CO. LTD (Republic of Korea), CNPC Driling Engineering CO. LTD (China), Petrofac International LLC, Gulf Oil and Si Gas (United Arab Emirates) are operating on the field. Turkmengaz State Concern signed service contracts on "Galkynysh".
The exploratory drilling at the "Galkynysh" field showed that the prospects of increasing proven gas reserves are associated with subsalt carbonate sediments of the Upper Jurassic period, where the thickness of the productive zone is 600-700 meters.
New technologies, great power inputs and drilling of deep wells are required to get to the powerful gas-bearing strata, Neutral Turkmenistan reported.
At this stage, Hyndai Engineering CO. LTD has completed construction work on the gas cleaning plant with a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Start-up operations are currently being conducted at this plant. By June 1, the company plans to launch the production lines for gas desulphurization. By this time, all gas pipelines will be laid in the field.
Petrofac International LLC's construction branches fulfill the large operations. Besides, the main technological gas treatment equipment with a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters of gas per year, installed by a service company from the UAE, construction work has been completed at such facilities as a fire station, mechanical workshops. The service company has started its testing and commissioning.
Another gas purification enterprise GS-2 with capacity of 10 billion cubic meters of gas per year has been constructed by Chinese experts.
As a major natural fuel supplier in Central Asia, Turkmenistan is one of the leading energy countries in the world. It has all opportunities to increase gas production volumes in the coming years. Moreover, Turkmenistan is one of its largest suppliers by creating a diversified system of supplying gas to the world markets.
"This perspective is justified by huge natural gas reserves available at Galkynysh giant oil field, which is being rapidly developed," the article said.
