The Turkmengeologiya State Corporation continues exploration using innovative technologies on a giant Galkynysh gas field, the Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan said in a message.
The work is also underway on prospective areas of South Garagum, Gazanly, Giurgiu, Gundogar Eloten and Gunbatar Yandakly located near the Galkynysh field, according to the message.
“The results of this exploration based on innovative technologies give reason to assume that these fields and promising areas form a single zone of oil and gas accumulations,” said the message.
According to Gaffney, Cline & Associates, which audits Turkmenistan’s Galkynysh field and the adjacent Yashlar field, these two sites have an estimated total reserve of 26.2 trillion cubic meters of gas. With the newly discovered Garakel field, the block's reserves rise to 27.4 trillion cubic meters.
