By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Bahar Energy Operating Company Limited (BEOC), wholly owned subsidiary of the US Greenfields Petroleum Corporation, has initiated an extended waterflood injectivity test in Azerbaijan’s Gum Deniz oil field, a source in Azerbaijan’s oil and gas market told Trend.

The injectivity test will look for responses in offset wells in an area of the Gum Deniz that has not yet been efficiently waterflooded, said the source.

“Injection of water will continue as new wellbores are added. Offset producing wells and observation wells will be closely monitored for response,” added the source.

The contract for exploration, rehabilitation, development and production at Bahar and Gum Deniz block of offshore fields was signed by Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR (20 percent) and Bahar Energy (80 percent) in 2009. Bahar field, developed since 1969, is located in 40 kilometers south-east from Baku.
