Fuel and energy complex - priority sphere for Turkmen-German cooperation

Priority areas for cooperation between Turkmenistan and Germany were discussed during the eighth meeting of the Turkmen-German intergovernmental commission recently held in Berlin, Nebit-Gaz, online newspaper of the country’s Oil and Gas Complex, reported.

The sides held an exchange of views on development of the trade and economic relations, and attraction of investments in large-scale projects implemented by Turkmenistan, including in the oil and gas and energy sectors.

Participation of German companies in application of new technologies in the activities of Turkmen oil and gas production enterprises, their processing, in the energy and chemical industries, as well as involvement of German manufacturers of gas equipment in implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project were assessed as prospective areas, the message reads.

The sides further discussed issues of investing in the mining industry, expanding partnership in the sectors of transport and logistics, communications and telecommunications, agro-industry, and healthcare.

"An agreement has been reached to exchange experience on introduction of the modern services in the financial and banking spheres, on the securities exchange, as well as in the insurance sector," according to the message.

There were voiced proposals for supply of special equipment by Germany's Umax Trade GmbH for the water industry of Turkmenistan, purchase of passenger, freight and special airplanes produced by Airbus and establishment of interaction in the space industry.
