SOCAR-Tekfen JV to launch operations at Shah Deniz terminal

Azfen, which is a joint venture of the Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR and Turkish Tekfen company, intends to carry out the work within the projects related the Shah Deniz terminal this year, head of SOCAR’s PR department Ibrahim Ahmadov told Trend.

“Azfen also intends to participate in the modernization and reconstruction of the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery, the modernization of the EP-300 unit of Azerikimya production union and other projects in Azerbaijan and Georgia,” he said.

Touching on the work conducted by the company in 2018, he stressed that Azfen fulfilled a number of orders within the Southern Gas Corridor project, including those in such segments as the expansion of the South Caucasus gas pipeline in Azerbaijan and Georgia.

At the same time, Azfen participated in various projects related to the Sangachal Terminal, the Heydar Aliyev Refinery, the modernization of the EP-300 unit of Azerikimya and others.

“While continuing to carry out a number of large-scale work within international projects, Azfen continues to bring income, holding a special place in the SOCAR pricing chain, as an enterprise operating in the service sector,” he said.

Azfen was established in 1996 by SOCAR (60 percent) and Tekfen (40 percent).

The company’s main objective is to carry out the construction and engineering work for oil companies.
