By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

The project company ICGB AD finalized the public procurement for the line pipes manufacture and supply for construction of the Gas Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), the project company told Trend.

“The public procurement was announced at the end of 2017 and was conducted as a restricted procedure in two phases – preliminary selection and submission of offers. In the first phase of the procedure 11 candidates submitted requests for participation, three of which were admitted for participation in the second phase - Erciyas Celik Boru Sanayi A.S., Toplivo -2 EOOD and Corinth Pipeworks Industry S.A.

“All three candidates submitted offers in the second phase of the procedure. After a detailed technical evaluation, including on-site visits at each of the participants' factories, it was found that the technical proposal of the participant Corinth Pipeworks Industry S.A. fully complies with the technical specification, including demonstration of advantages that significantly enhance the minimum requirements of the Contracting Entity.

“The Executive Officers of ICGB are satisfied with the successful finalization of the public procurement and pointed out that the completion of the procedure is one of the most important and final steps before the start of the IGB construction.

“In the course of the procedure, the participant Erciyas Celik Boru Sanayi A.S informed the Contracting Entity that it can not extend the validity of its offer, which is a basis for exclusion from further participation. The other participant Toplivo -2 EOOD has submitted a technical proposal which does not fully meet the requirements of the technical specification and therefore it was decided not to be admitted to technical evaluation.

“The line pipe supply procedure is one of the two most important public procurements that secure the start of the construction of the Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnector. The contract will be executed for a period of twelve months, as the first deliveries will be realized within four months of starting the contract. Extremely high manufacture performance criteria, including pipe quality assurance measures, are in place to ensure that the gas pipeline meets the highest safety standards and good engineering practices. The supply is for the whole route of the pipeline, both on the territory of Bulgaria and Greece. The contract value is EUR 58,229,759.16, which represents the total fixed price of the supply,” said the company.

IGB is a gas pipeline, which will allow Bulgaria to receive Azerbaijani gas, in particular, the gas produced from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz 2 gas and condensate field. IGB is expected to be connected to TAP via which gas from the Shah Deniz field will be delivered to the European markets.

The initial capacity of IGB will be 3 billion cubic meters of gas.
