Trend:

Construction of Azerbaijan’s Central-Eastern Azeri offshore platform will begin this year, Bakhtiyar Aslanbeyli, Vice President for Communications, External Affairs, Strategy & Region at BP Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey, told Trend.

Aslanbeyli noted that production is set to begin in 2023.

This will be the 7th production platform on the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field, which will be located between the Central and Eastern Azeri platforms. With the completion of the project worth $6 billion, up to 100,000 barrels of oil will be produced at the platform daily.

According to information from other sources, construction contracts have not been signed yet, but the main construction work will be carried out at local fabrication yards by Azerbaijani companies BosShelf and the Azfen-Tekfen joint venture.

In April 2019, a steering committee for the development of ACG with the participation of SOCAR, BP, Chevron, INPEX, Equinor, ExxonMobil, TPAO, ITOCHU and ONGC Videsh approved the Central-Eastern Azeri project, which is the next stage in the development of the giant block.
