Iran installs new platform on joint oil field with UAE

Iran has installed the S1 platform at the Salman oil field, jointly owned by the Islamic Republic and the UAE, said the Head of Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) Alireza Salmanzadeh, Trend reports citing Shana news agency.

According to Salmanzadeh, the platform was successfully installed last night, despite various difficulties such as the installation of underwater pipes.

The weight of this platform is over 1000 tons. The platform has a 12-inch submarine pipeline, two 6-inch pipelines. With the launch of the S1 platform, Iran's oil production from the field is expected to increase by about 6,000 barrels a day.

Salman oil field is located 144 km south of Lavan island.

There are 44 oil wells on the Salman field. The reserves of the field reach 4.5 billion barrels of oil. So far, 1.1 billion barrels have been extracted and about 500 million barrels may be extracted.

Reportedly, Iran is producing 60,000 barrels of oil on this field daily.
