The production of high-quality diesel fuel in Azerbaijan is scheduled for 2022, Trend reports with reference to SOCAR.
According to the data, SOCAR's Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery is being modernized in order to increase production capacity, provide the country with high-quality fuel in compliance with Euro-5 standards, stable supply of raw materials to the Azerikimya PA and increase the export potential of oil products.
“The reconstruction work continues. As part of the modernization of the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, SOCAR has already conducted preparatory work (drilling, backfilling) with a volume of 1.47 million cubic meters, 124,000 tons of concrete were poured, 21,000 tons of metal structures were installed, about 445,000 kilometers of cable lines were laid, 458 pieces of equipment were installed,” said the company.
The company reminded that at the end of 2018, within the framework of the project, a new bitumen plant with a capacity of 400,000 tons per year and a new filling station with liquefied natural gas (LNG) were fully commissioned.
“The modernization is carried out in stages. According to the new schedule, the start of production of diesel engines meeting Euro-5 requirements at the refinery is scheduled for mid-2022. In the subsequent period, it is also planned to gradually improve the quality of gasoline produced by successively commissioning new units and bringing it to the Euro-5 standard in 2023. Thereon, the current stage of modernization will be completed. After that, the refinery will produce RON-92 and RON -95 gasoline,” SOCAR added.
