Oil extraction has been launched from well No. 9 of the Saadatabad oil field in the territory of the South Zagros Oil and Gas Production Company (SZOGPC), which is a subsidiary of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC), the official of ICOFC, Parviz Salehvand said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.
Salehvand noted that daily about 700 barrels of crude oil started to be extracted from this well with the completion of drilling work.
He added that drilling of this well began in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021) and about 3,130 meters depth of excavations was carried out. The well was put into operation after 6 months.
The official noted that it is planned to be drilled two new wells and repaired one well in the Saadatabad oil field, within the plan to maintain and increase oil extraction. In addition, it is expected that well No. 10 will be upgraded and put into operation until May 22, 2021. The repair work has also been launched on well No. 6 of the field.
According to Salehvand, crude oil extracted from the Saadatabad field is transported via pipelines to the Shiraz Oil Refinery after primary refining.
“The ICOFC is developing the Naft Shahr, Danan and Saadatabad fields as part of the plan of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC),” he said.
As reported, Iran's Saadatabad oil field is located in the Fars Province (southern İran). As the field is connected to the Sarvestan oil field, their extraction volumes are calculated together. So, it is estimated that the two fields, which cover an area of 242 square kilometers, contain 1.4 billion barrels of crude oil.
The South Zagros Oil and Gas Production Company are one of three subsidiaries of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC). The South Zagros Oil and Gas Production Company currently has 9 gas fields - Aghar, Dalan, Nar, Kangan, Sarkhoon, Tabnak, Homa, Varavi, Shanol, and 2 oil fields - Saadatabad and Sarvestan in operation.
The South Zagros Oil and Gas Production Company extracted 1.09 million barrels of crude oil, 44 billion cubic meters of gas and 42 million cubic meters of gas condensate during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through February 19, 2021).
