BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. The electricity generation of the Mashhad Thermal Power Plant in the Razavi Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran) increased by 15 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), an official of the Mashhad Power Generation Management Company Yashar Maghmoumi said, Trend reports citing Iran’s Thermal Power Plants Holding Company’s website.

According to Maghmoumi, the Mashhad TPP generated over 1.73 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity within the last Iranian year.

The official added that about 59.7 percent of the electricity was generated by steam units, while 40.3 percent – by gas units.

Iran's Mashhad TPP is located on an area of 35 hectares. The power plant has 8 units (4 gas and 4 steam units).

Although the TPP has a capacity to generate 376 megawatt-hours of electricity, the power plant currently generates about 328 megawatt-hours of electricity, as 1 steam unit does not operate.
