BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 23. A new gas turbine power plant with installed capacity of around 500 megawatts will be built and commissioned in Azerbaijan by 2026, Trend reports with reference to the Strategy for socio-economic development of Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026.
Azerenergy joint-stock company will be involved in the power plant’s construction. It is planned to work out the plant’s project, select a potential investor, carry out the necessary construction work in accordance with the project from 2022 to 2026 and commission the plant.
Electricity generation in Azerbaijan exceeded 13.52 billion kilowatt-hours in the first half of 2022, which is 2.3 percent more than in the same period in 2021. Over 6.64 billion kilowatt-hours of this volume were exported. Azerbaijan imported around 71.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in H1 2022.
