Iran Oil Minister urges for speeding up Iran-Russia energy agreement

TEHRAN, Iran, August 25. Iran’s Minister of Oil Javad Owji expressed hope that the Iran-Russia agreements will be put into operation as soon as possible, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Oil Minister Javad Owji made the remarks during a meeting with Russian Presidential aide Igor Levitin here in Tehran.

“The Iran-Russia agreements and memorandums of understanding, signed in Tehran, Moscow, and Ashgabat must be put into operation as soon as possible,” he said.

He also said that the Oil Ministry had good meetings with Alexander Novak, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister, former Energy Minister.

Recently, Russian majority state-owned energy company Gazprom and the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) have signed a $40 billion agreement for the development of oil and gas fields.

As per the memorandum of understanding (MOU), Gazprom will help NIOC in developing oil and gas projects.
