BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 4. Iran’s oil exports through the eastern ports of the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) increased by 49 percent in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Director of Shahid Bahonar Ports and Maritime Department Hamid Reza Mohammad Hosseini said, Trend reports.
In total, 69,900 tons of oil products were exported to the countries located around the Persian Gulf through the east ports of the province in 6 months, he added.
Also, over 687,000 tons of non-oil products were exported through the eastern ports of the province in 6 months, which is an increase of 9 percent compared to the same period last year, Mohammad Hosseini noted.
The director also said that about 31,900 tons of cargo were transited through the eastern ports of the province for the reporting period. Cargo transit increased by 76 percent compared with the same time last year.
“Overall, 1.19 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the eastern ports of Hormozgan province for six months,” he pointed out.
The eastern ports of Hormozgan Province play a crucial role in facilitating trade and transportation, with nine active ports, including Shahid Bahonar, Tiyab, and Jask. These developments reflect Iran’s efforts to enhance its maritime infrastructure and boost economic activities in the region.
