Iran releases data on power generation of Shirvan Combined Cycle Power Plant

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 26. Iran’s Shirvan Combined Cycle Power Plant, located in the North Khorasan Province in northeast of the country generated 4.9 million megawatts of electricity during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023) , head of the power plant Reza Marjanzadeh said, Trend reports.

Of the mentioned volume, 3.5 million megawatts were generated by gas units, while 1.4 million megawatts were generated by steam units, the official noted.

He added that the power generation capacity of Shirvan power plant for the reporting period was over 5.7 million megawatts.

Marjanzadeh also stated that the efficiency of the Shirvan Combined Cycle Power Plant for the 1st month was more than 46.5 percent.

Iran’s Shirvan Combined Cycle Power Plant can generate a total of 1,114 megawatt-hours of electricity. The power plant has 6 gas units with a generation capacity of 159 megawatt-hours each, and 3 steam units with a generation capacity of 160 megawatt-hours each.

There are currently 616 power units operating in 134 TPPs in Iran. The power generation capacity of the country's thermal power plants is 74,198 megawatt-hours.

At present, the power generation capacity of Iran's all power plants, including thermal, hydroelectric, nuclear, renewable, etc., is approximately 91,000 megawatt-hours. Of this, 82 percent is accounted for by the country’s thermal power plants.
