BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 6. Total crude oil and petroleum products’ exports from Azerbaijan to the US stood at 212,000 barrels in September 2023, as compared to 236,000 barrels in the same period in 2022, Trend reports via the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
As such, the volume of supplies decreased by 10.2 percent year-on-year. No supplies were carried out before September this year.
Daily net crude oil and petroleum products’ imports to the US from Azerbaijan in September stood at 7,000 barrels, versus 8,000 barrels in the same month of 2022, down by 12.5 percent.
Meanwhile, the US imported a total of 574,000 barrels of crude oil and petroleum products from Azerbaijan in 2022, as compared to 93,000 barrels in 2021, up by 6.2 times.
The exports were carried out in March (101,000 barrels), July (237,000 barrels) and September (236,000 barrels).
The data released by State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan shows that the country’s oil exports reached approximately 22.3 million tons, valued at nearly $13.8 billion, from January through October 2023.
In this period, the top three importers of Azerbaijani oil were Italy, leading the pack with 9.3 million tons valued at $5.9 billion, followed by Israel, which imported 2.2 million tons worth $1.3 billion, and India with 1.4 million tons valued at over $817 million.
Oil from Azerbaijan is transported to neighboring countries and global markets through three major pipelines: Baku-Novorossiysk, Baku-Supsa, and Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC). Currently, transportation via the Baku-Supsa pipeline is temporarily suspended. In addition, oil is exported by rail to the Georgian terminals in Batumi and Kulevi.
