Oil&Gas Materials 19 October 2006 17:25 (UTC +04:00)

Azerbaijan has not achieved a final agreement with Georgia on electric power supply in winter period 2006-2007 yet. The agreement is expected to be achieved as soon as a number of technical issues are resolved, Azerenerji JSC told Trend. The Georgian party has put forward this proposal, and a mechanism of delivery and return of the energy is under preparation now.

Particularly, issues on the day time when the Georgian party will be supplied by the energy, the terms when it will be returned, and other conditions, are under discussion now. Georgia has already had an electric power debt to Azerbaijan today.

Up to date, the remaining volume of the debt is estimated at 10 m. KWatt/ hour of electric power. It is expected to be returned as soon as problems on Georgia`s electric power generating capacities are eliminated.

Earlier the Georgian party commenced returning the electric power debt to Azerbaijan. Up to now, Georgia has returned about 10 m. KWatt/hour of power to Azerbaijan. The total volume of this debt is 20 m. KWatt/hour.

The debt is the result of the electric energy supplied to Georgia from Azerbaijan in 1990s . The Georgian party had the total debt at the volume at about 32 m. KWatt/hour.

The two parties have some new agreements on cooperation of the Electric Offices of the two countries in states of emergency.
