Azerbaijan records average monthly growth in volume of ATM transactions

Over 4,000 people accounted for one payment terminal in Azerbaijan, including ATMs and POS-terminals in 2020, Trend reports on Feb. 22 referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the CBA, the average number of Azerbaijani residents per one payment terminal grew by 700 over the year.

The average monthly amount of transactions per ATM reached 804,750 manat ($473,380) for 3,120 transactions, showing a year-on-year decline of 3.1 percent.

The average monthly volume of one transaction through an ATM during the reporting year equaled 257.8 manat ($151.6), up by 8.8 percent compared to 2019.

The average monthly number of transactions through POS-terminals amounted to 7,800 manat ($4,590) for 96 transactions, having more than doubled over the year. The average monthly amount of one transaction through a POS-terminal was 80.8 manat ($47.53).

As of late 2020, 2,715 ATMs operated in Azerbaijan, of which 1,429 are in Baku, and 1,286 in other cities and districts of the country.

The number of POS terminals in the country amounted to 57,120, of which 37,627 were installed in Baku, and 19,493 - in the country’s other cities and regions.
