BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 22. Iran's Omid Entrepreneurship Fund lent 110 trillion rials (about $2.62 billion) to small businesses, said Hadi Babaei, director of the fund, Trend reports.

The director noted that the fund’s main focus is to support small businesses, which have created 48,000 jobs so far.

He also revealed that the fund’s loans resulted in 100,000 people getting employed last year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), but he did not specify the amount of the loans.

Babaei added that the fund gives more priority to women entrepreneurs and has established some beekeeping businesses for women in a border village between Iran and Pakistan.

The Omid Entrepreneurship Fund has been active since 2014 and has been financing various projects for small businesses in rural and nomadic areas since 2017.
