Maltese Fimbank Tries to Delay Trial -   Azerbaijan Communications Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / The sides to the financial trial involving Maltese Fimbank and Azerbaijani Government, protection of which was entrusted to Azerbaijan Communications & IT Ministry, will testify at Rotterdam circuit court in the Netherlands on 9 October.

If the bank had not petitioned for involving of an additional witness it would have been possible to hold a concluding hearing on 9 October, the head of the Law and Staff Department of the Ministry, Bahtiyar Mammadov, said.

Azerbaijani side intends to inform the court of how the bank tries to delay the trial using such excuses. Fimbank has not called the name of the additional witness.

As a result of the lawsuits brought by the bank, it was decided to arrest the stocks owned by Azerbaijan in satellite network companies - 50,000 stocks in the Holland New Skies Satellites N.V., 500,000 in French Eutelsat S.A., as well as to arrest the dividends received through the stocks and the shares in Intelsat ltd. in the Bermudas.

On 10 November, Paris higher court instance annulled the decision by the Paris Court on arrest of 500,000 stocks of the Communications Ministry in Eutelsat S.A.
