Azerbaijani Communication Administration to attend final preparations for ITU Plenipotentiary Conference

Agreement on the participation of representatives of the Regional Communications Commonwealth (RCC) and the Inter-American Telecommunications Commission (CITEL) in the final events of the two structures on the preparation for the Plenipotentiary Conference of ITU (International Telecommunication Union) in 2010, the RCC said.

Agreement on the participation of representatives of the Regional Communications Commonwealth (RCC) and the Inter-American Telecommunications Commission (CITEL) in the final events of the two structures on the preparation for the Plenipotentiary Conference of ITU (International Telecommunication Union) in 2010, the RCC said.

An agreement was reached within the World Conference on Development Communication, which takes place in Hyderabad.

At the meeting Azerbaijan was represented by the chief of staff and legal department of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies Bakhtiyar Mammadov.

The sides exchanged information on the nomination of their representatives in leadership positions in the Plenipotentiary Conference, Council of the ITU and in the Radio Regulations Board. A general agreement was expressed on cooperation between the RCC and CITEL, the first stage of which will discuss the work plan for the coming four years.

ITU Plenipotentiary Conference will be held October 4-22 in the city of Vera Cruz (Mexico).

The Plenipotentiary Conference is the supreme body of the ITU, responsible for formulation of future policies of the organization. The conference, convened once every four years, is determined by the overall policy adopts four-year strategic and financial plans, and elects senior leadership of the organization, members of the Council and the Radio Regulations Board.

Azerbaijan has announced its candidacy for elections to the Council of the ITU on a group of the "C" region countries At present, Azerbaijan's candidature submitted to the ITU for consideration and the Foreign Ministry holds works in this direction.
