Center for Regional Development of Azerbaijan presented a project to create information base in the tourism sector.

"Currently, there are many gaps in the country's tourism sphere, and the project is aimed at their removal and an even greater development of this sector," the chairman of the Center for Regional Development of Azerbaijan, Chingiz Ismayilov, said Wednesday.
According to Ismayilov, lack of adequate information base is an obstacle for proper development of the tourism sector in the country, including foreign investment.

"The websites of the tourism companies in the country should contain in-depth information in several languages in order to achieve further progress," said Ismayilov.

Proposed by the Center, the project envisages collecting information about tourism sector of the country and creating tourism information base based on GIS technology, which would give significant impetus to the development of this important sector in the country.

In addition to providing information on historical and cultural monuments, hotels and other important facilities in the tourism sector, the tourism information base will have their text description. In addition, it would be possible to get more information on any facility through the Navigator.
The project also envisages creating tourist atlas in electronic form, which particularly will include maps of all the regional hotels and rest areas in the country.
