BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 19. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) is preparing a strategic program on cyber security together with International Financial Corporation, Executive Director at the CBA Farid Osmanov told Trend on October 19.

"During its preparation, the international practice was taken as the basis. It’s not only about the technical strengthening of the infrastructure, but it’s also planned to conduct educational activities aimed at increasing knowledge,” Osmanov stressed. “Besides, in order to form a clearer program, the regulator conducts appropriate surveys and assesses the activities of financial market players. In the near future time, we’ll be able to approve this program.”

He also reminded that in 2021, the CBA prepared and adopted control measures in the field of cyber security based on international standards.

"These standards came into force in April this year and were prepared on the basis of the ISO 27001 international standard. It includes mechanisms for control measures in the field of cyber security,” the executive director said.

“After the ISO 27001 standard's adoption, all banks in Azerbaijan began to strengthen both the technical infrastructure and the mechanical base and means control. This work is being carried out by banks, as well," Osmanov added.
