Turkey's tourism revenues increase in 3Q2018

In 3Q2018, Turkey’s tourism revenues reached $11.5 billion, showing an increase of 1 percent compared to the same period in 2017, the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK) said in a message on Oct. 31.

The report notes that 81.8 percent of total income falls to the share of foreign tourists, and the remaining 18.2 percent to the share of Turkish citizens living abroad.

On average, every tourist spent $589, the report said.

"The number of tourists visiting Turkey in 3Q2018 increased by 12.7 percent compared to the same period in 2017 and amounted to 18.7 million people," TUIK's report said.

According to TUIK, 84.7 percent of tourists visiting Turkey in 3Q2018 are foreign citizens and 15.3 percent are Turkish citizens living abroad.
