Cargo transshipment from Greece through the ports of Turkey made up over 8.2 million tons from January through June 2020, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.
During the mentioned period, 477,599 tons of cargo were handled from Greece by ships flying the Turkish flag, while ships flying the flags of other countries transported over 7.6 million tons of cargo.
According to the ministry, ships flying the Greek flag shipped 160,846 tons of cargo in the first half of this year. Meanwhile, the volume of cargo movement in transit from Greek via the Turkish ports made up nearly 1.4 million tons.
In 1H2020, the volume of cargo movement via Turkish ports amounted to 179.6 million tons.
Meanwhile, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 14.3 million tons.
The volume of cargo transshipment through the Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 6.9 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 158.3 million tons.
Over 36.1 million tons of cargo were transported through the ports of Turkey during the first six months of this year.
In June 2020, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to 28.1 million tons. At the same time, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 2.4 million tons.
The volume of transshipment of goods through the ports of Turkey by ships flying their countries’ flags exceeded 1 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – to 24.6 million tons.
In June 2020, 5.4 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey.
