Port facilities to be commissioned in Iran

As many as 34 port facilities will be commissioned in four coastal provinces of Iran by the end of the current government (August 2021), Trend reports citing the Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

According to the report, 23 port facilities will be commissioned in Hormozgan Province, 5 in Bushehr Province, 3 in Sistan and Baluchestan Province and 3 in Mazandaran Province.

“A total of 1,670 people will be employed with the commissioning of these facilities,” the report said.

Furthermore, 4.43 trillion rials (about $105 million) and 26.9 million euro was spent on the port facilities, the report said.

According to the report, the port facilities are being built at the expense of public and private sector investments.

A total of 9.13 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 9th month of the current Iranian year (November 21 through December 20, 2020). Of this, 5.5 million tons were loaded and 3.62 million tons were unloaded. This is a decrease of 18.8 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
