The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) decreased by about 3.8 percent in the 8th month of the current Iranian year (October 23 through November 21, 2021), compared to the 7th month (September 23 through October 22, 2021), Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
According to the statistics, a total of 3.75 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the eighth month (about 1.56 million tons loaded, 2.19 million tons unloaded).
“Also, 1.34 million tons of cargo were exported and 1.93 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the reporting month. At the same time, 180,000 tons of cargo were loaded in the port for transit,” the statistics said.
Within the eighth month, 30,400 tons of cargo were loaded and 245,000 tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage.
According to the statistics, 6,560 tons of cargo were loaded and 8,340 tons were unloaded in this port for transshipment. Furthermore, 128 tons of cargo were loaded, and 4,140 tons were unloaded for other purposes.
So, 1.61 million tons of essential products, 179,000 tons of metal products, 364,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 874 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts, 196,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 8th month of the current Iranian year.
Moreover, 61,200 tons of leather products, clothing, fibers, paper, and wood materials, 87,200 tons of container products, 1.25 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.
As reported, about 11.1 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the eighth month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 5.7 million tons were loaded and 5.4 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 13.4 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year.
