Iran eyes decrease in cargo transportation via Zahedan International Airport

The volume of cargo transported through Zahedan International Airport in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province (south-eastern Iran) decreased by 8 percent, during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.

According to the statistics, 2,181 tons of cargo were transported through the airport in 8 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 2,363.

“In addition, 262,458 passengers were transported via Zahedan Airport within nine months. Passenger transportation decreased by 8 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 286,577 passengers had been transported through the airport in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

Over 9 months, 3,186 flights (passenger planes only) were carried out from the airport, which is an increase of 15 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. The figure amounted to 2,765 in the same period last Iranian year.

Iran's Zahedan International Airport is located on an area of 900 hectares.
