BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 25. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) increased by 17.5 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
In total, about 46 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port last Iranian year. Of this, 23.5 million tons were loaded, while 22.5 million tons were unloaded.
“Also, 21.1 million tons of cargo were exported and 20.2 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the last Iranian year. At the same time, 1.41 million tons of cargo were loaded in the port for transit,” the statistics said.
Within the last Iranian year, 754,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 2.13 million tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage.
According to the statistics, 71,500 tons of cargo were loaded and 71,300 tons were unloaded in this port for transshipment.
Furthermore, 85,800 tons of cargo were loaded, and 78,200 tons were unloaded for other purposes.
So, 17.6 million tons of essential products, 2.36 million tons of metal products, 4.07 million tons of construction and mining materials, 16,500 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts, and 3,360 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the last Iranian year.
Moreover, 583,000 tons of leather products, clothing, fibers, paper, and wood materials, 1.31 million tons of container products, and 16.7 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned period.
In general, more than 148 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the last Iranian year. Of this, 79.1 million tons were loaded and 69.3 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 13.7 percent, compared to the preceding Iranian year.
