BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 12. A total of 13.4 million tons of essential products (wheat, rice, cooking oil, barley, animal feed, soybeans, etc.) were unloaded at Iran’s Imam Khomeini port in Khuzestan Province in the south-west the country from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022) to February 9, 2023, Director General of Ports and Maritime Department in Khuzestan Province Behrouz Aghaei told MANA News Agency, Trend reports.

Aghaei noted that 11.6 million tons of unloaded essential products were transported to other provinces of the country.

The director general added that at present, 15 ships carrying essential products are waiting to dock at Imam Khomeini port.

“Meanwhile, about 17 million tons of essential products were imported to the country through Imam Khomeini port over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022). About 80 percent of the essential products imported to the country via Imam Khomeini port,” he said.

According to the official, the mentioned essential products are mainly imported from Brazil, India, Serbia, Romania and Ukraine.

In general, 3.16 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Imam Khomeini port in the 9th month of the current Iranian year (November 22 through December 21, 2022). Of this, 1.5 million tons were loaded and 1.66 million tons were unloaded.
