Azerbaijan's State Customs Committee unveils value of cargo transported by sea

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 15. Cargoes of nearly $142.341 million were transported by Azerbaijan's sea transport in January 2023, growing by 1.64 percent or $2.294 million against the same period of 2022, the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan told Trend.

In the reporting period, sea freight shipping exceeded 230,682 tons, which was 2.5 times or 167,503 tons less than in January 2022.

In January 2022, the sea freight export decreased by 7.2 percent and amounted to 2,788 tons of $4.856 million (a drop of 35.3 percent year over year). Meanwhile, Azerbaijan's sea freight import stood at 227,892 tons worth over $137.485 million (growth of 0.75 percent or $1.027 million over the year).

The cost of cargo transportation by all transport modes in Azerbaijan exceeded $3.289 billion in January 2023, including exports – around $1.877 billion, and imports – over $1.412 billion.
