BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 6. Iran’s first land port located in Eslamshahr County of Tehran Province in the north of the country was put into operation on March 6, 2023, Trend reports referring to Fars News Agency.

Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash and other officials attended the event held for the launch of Iran's first land port in Tehran.

Speaking at the event, Bazrpash said that serious steps have been taken to put Tehran land port into use. He added that the mentioned land port was established at the junction of international corridors passing through the country, including the East-West Corridor and the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).

The minister noted that Tehran land port was established on an area of 55 hectares at the cost of 10 trillion rials (about $238 million) by the private sector.

Bazrpash also pointed out necessary steps are being taken to establish land ports in South Khorasan and Isfahan provinces of Iran, as well as in the western provinces of the country.

Reportedly, cargo shipment through Iran will double with the operation of Tehran land port. So, the transported goods will be more quickly delivered to their destination as result of the operation of this port.
