BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port of Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), decreased by 4.96 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022), Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

In total, 43.7 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port for the last year. Of this, 22.9 million tons were loaded and 20.8 million tons were unloaded.

“Approximately 20.3 million tons of cargo were exported and 18.5 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port during the reporting period. At the same time, 955,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 7,940 tons were unloaded at the port for transit,” the statistics said.

Last year, 1.48 million tons of cargo were loaded and 2.1 million tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage.

Furthermore, 82,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 82,000 tons were unloaded in this port for transshipment. Also, 53,100 tons of cargo were loaded and 123,000 tons were unloaded for other purposes.

Nearly 14.7 million tons of essential products, about 1.63 million tons of metal products, 4.6 million tons of construction and mining materials, 20,400 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts, and 3.98 million tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port in the last Iranian year.

Moreover, 712,000 tons of leather, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, 1.2 million tons of container products, and about 16.9 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned period.

Overall, approximately 152 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports over the last Iranian year. Of that, about 80 million tons were loaded and 71.7 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 1.7 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year.
