ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 23. South Korean state structures and private companies can take part in strategic railway projects in Turkmenistan, Trend reports.
This information was announced following an online meeting of the management of the Turkmendemiryollary Agency (Turkmenistan Railway) with representatives of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport of the Republic of Korea and the Korea National Railway Company.
During the meeting, the Turkmen side expressed interest in strengthening cooperation with Korean structures, both public and private, engaged in railway construction, electrification of railways, signaling, the creation of railway infrastructure, and other related areas.
The sides also recognized the importance of holding personal bilateral talks to further discuss the participation of Korean state structures and companies in strategic railway projects in Turkmenistan and also agreed to explore the possibility of organizing a visit of representatives of South Korean railway companies to Turkmenistan during this year.
At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed hope for the successful results of bilateral cooperation in the field of railway transport.
Meanwhile, the railway sector of Turkmenistan plays an important role in the economy and transport infrastructure of the country. Modern railways and stations provide not only domestic transportation of goods and passengers but also important international transport links, contributing to the development of trade and economic ties between Turkmenistan and neighboring countries and distant regions.
