ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, December 22. Turkmenistan and the Russian Dagestan region are working on the development of a project to launch the first cargo ship, Trend reports.
According to official sources, this direction is expected to be launched before the end of the year.
At the present, Dagestan's Makhachkala Commercial Sea Port JSC is awaiting information from Turkmen authorities on the type of first vessel and the format of the line, upon which the necessary cargo base and port infrastructure will be created on the Russian side.
The formation of contacts between Makhachkala and Turkmenbashi will help to an increase in mutual trade turnover not only in the context of rising interregional, but also interstate commerce.
Meanwhile, Turkmenistan and Russia have begun to intensify negotiations on the expansion of transportation linkages in recent years.
