ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, March 5. Turkmenistan Railways plans to use its own investments to build a loading and unloading area with an indoor warehouse complex in the Torghundi dry port in Afghanistan, Trend reports.

According to official data, draft bilateral memorandums on the allocation of land for the construction of a warehouse complex and its management have been sent to the Afghan side through diplomatic channels.

Turkmenistan Railways hopes to sign draft bilateral memorandums in the near future and start practical work.

Recently, during a working visit to Afghanistan from February 11 through 18, Turkmen specialists discussed with their Afghan colleagues the preparation of a feasibility study for the construction of the Torghundi - Herat railway, spanning 173 kilometers.

As part of the Lapis Lazuli Corridor, this road, together with the new cargo terminal in Torghundi, will create additional conditions for the development of the Afghan economy, the activation of small and medium-sized businesses in the country, and the export of Afghan products to the markets of Türkiye and Europe.
