BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 18. The Czech Republic has shown interest in a joint venture related to the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) project, Advisor to the Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways, Emil Mammadov, said during the session titled “International Transport Corridors in the Black and Caspian Sea Region" at the Black Sea-Caspian Freight Forum 2024 in Baku, Trend reports.
The advisor noted that Azerbaijan Railways and the Georgian operator Marabda-Kartsakhi Railway established a joint venture, BTKI Railways, on August 14 of this year.
"The joint venture aims to increase cargo transportation from China to European countries. The idea is to explore collaboration opportunities with European partners to facilitate cargo delivery from the Western side. Central Asian countries play a crucial role in this process, and recently the Czech Republic has expressed a desire to be part of this important international project," he stated.
Mammadov mentioned that negotiations are nearing the completion phase, raising hopes for the swift signing of final agreements.
