The further development of inter-parliamentary dialogue will contribute to strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia in all spheres, Russian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Mikhail Bocharnikov said at a meeting with Speaker of the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament Nurlan Nigmatulin, the Majilis reported.
The meeting stressed the strategic character of Kazakh-Russian ties, in which teh presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia play the primary role. Speaking about the importance of integration processes, Nigmatulin said President Nursultan Nazarbayev is not only a consistent supporter, but he also initiated new directions in many respects.
The sides discussed a wide range of topics, including issues of deepening inter-parliamentary ties. The new parliament has already formed a group on cooperation with the supreme legislative body in Russia.
The two sides also discussed cooperation between within the Collective Security Treaty. According to Nigmatulin, there are now a number of draft laws in parliament on the ratification of agreements signed within the CSTO, and they will be submitted to the house for consideration.
