ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 19. Major repairs of 10 power units, 49 boilers, and 54 turbines are planned at power plants in Kazakhstan in accordance with the approved schedule, said Vice Minister of Energy Zhandos Nurmaganbetov, Trend reports.
"To date, work is being carried out on 5 power units, 23 boilers, and 20 turbines. At the same time, the repair of three power units, 17 boilers, and 13 turbines has already been completed. Along with this, it is planned to overhaul power lines with a total length of about 25,300 km and 567 substations, as well as 3,500 distribution points and transformer substations. To date, work has been completed on 22,700 km of power lines, 514 substations, 3,466 distribution points, and transformers," he said at a government meeting chaired by Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov.
According to him, at the Ridder TPP, contractors are repairing all six boilers. 7.2 billion tenge (about $16 million) has been allocated from the government reserve for these purposes. Boilers No. 2 and 3 will be put into operation at the end of September.
"To ensure reliable operation of the Ekibastuz TPP, repairs to 10 boilers are planned for the upcoming heating season. Also, at the expense of the CAEPCO joint-stock company, auxiliary equipment, buildings, and structures are being repaired. Also under control is the preparation of TPP-2 for ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC. The deadline for completing the repair of boiler No. 4 here is extended until the end of October. "Simultaneous monitoring is carried out for work on other heat sources," he added.
