ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 2. About 58.9 billion tenge (about $131 million) was sent abroad from Kazakhstan through international money transfer systems in February 2024, which is 12.3 percent more than in January, Trend reports.
The data from the Central Bank of Kazakhstan shows that, compared to January 2024, the number of translations has also increased. Thus, the number of transfers in February increased by 15 percent and amounted to 184,800 transactions.
In February, the largest number of transfers abroad were made through Zolotaya Korona, CONTACT, Western Union, Moneygram, and others.
In terms of the volume of money sent from Kazakhstan abroad, the leaders are: Russia: 20.5 billion tenge or about $45 million (share 34.8 percent); Türkiye - 16.4 billion tenge or about $36.6 million (share 27.9 percent); and Uzbekistan: 9.7 billion tenge or about $21.6 million (share 16.5 percent).
In addition, the main share of transfers through international systems was carried out in US dollars (share of the total number of transfers: 31.4 percent, share of the total volume of transfers: 56.6 percent) and in Kazakhstani tenge (55.4 percent and 31.4 percent, respectively).
