BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, December 12. The electricity production in Kyrgyzstan from January through October 2023 has increased compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.
Data obtained from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan indicates that the country generated 11.099 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity during these ten months in 2023, marking a rise of 7.8 percent compared to the same months in 2022 (10.299 billion kilowatt-hours).
However, in October 2023, electricity production declined by 10.8 percent year-on-year, amounting to 714.4 million kilowatt-hours, whereas in the same month of the previous year, the figure was 771.9 million kilowatt-hours.
In comparison, there was a 14-percent year-on-year decrease in electricity production from January through September 2022, and a 30-percent decrease specifically in September 2022.
In September of the current year, Minister of Energy Taalaybek Ibraev, announced that Kyrgyzstan is expected to face an electricity deficit of 3.2 billion kilowatt-hours this year.
During autumn and winter, Kyrgyzstan aims to generate 14 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity from hydroelectric power stations. Additionally, an extra 1.9 billion kilowatt-hours will be generated at the Bishkek thermal power plant.
