BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 3. Simplification of international trade procedures and the use of the "single window" mechanism is considered as one of the relevant aspects of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), including taking into account the country's accession to the WTO, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

These issues were discussed at the meeting of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova with Deputy Executive Secretary of the UNECE Dmitry Maryasin.

During the meeting, the parties discussed promising areas of partnership at the moment, such as energy, environmental issues, urban planning and the development of "smart" cities in the context of the creation of the city of Arkadag in Turkmenistan with the introduction of intelligent systems and "green" technologies.

They also expressed a common opinion on the key role of Turkmenistan in promoting transport diplomacy at the UN. This role and the country's international initiatives for development of multimodal transport are being implemented in practice in projects to modernize existing and deploy new transport infrastructure on a national and regional scale.

Maryasin arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the "International transport and transit corridors: interconnection and development" (ITC 2023) forum on May 3 through 4.
