Uzbek, Turkmen presidents shown JV activities in automotive industry

Uzbek President Islam Karimov and Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the Uzbek-American joint venture (JV) General Motors Powertrain Uzbekistan, the Uzbek president's press service said.
According to the statement a tour of the plant was held during the official visit of Turkmen President to Tashkent.
The statement also said that Berdimuhamedov expressed his appreciation for the work of the automotive engine plant equipped with modern standards and the latest technology.
At the plant the Turkmen leader was shown the latest cars, trucks, tractors and other agricultural machinery of Uzbek production.
Berdimuhamedov appreciated the production of various car brands and other machinery, their quality and design.
The official visit of Turkmen President to Uzbekistan ended with the visit to the plant.
As reported earlier, during the visit, the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan discussed the main prospects of bilateral cooperation, as well as topical international and regional issues.
Following the talks, a number of important documents were signed including a joint statement by the heads of state.
"We consider this official visit of the Turkmen President to Uzbekistan as a significant political event in the history of Uzbek-Turkmen relations and a necessary and natural continuation of the fruitful and trusting dialogue at a highest level," Uzbek President said following the talks.
