Uzbek Central bank publishes data on purchase of foreign currency for 6M2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 16. In the first half of 2022, the volume of purchases of foreign currency of the Uzbek banks from individuals increased by $2.33 billion or 70 percent compared to the same period of 2021,Trend reports via the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

According to the Central bank, commercial banks purchased foreign currency from individuals in the reporting period in the amount of $5.66 billion.

Commercial banks of Uzbekistan sold $3.72 billion to individuals, which is $1.71 billion or 85 percent more than in the same period of 2021.

The banks bought $2.11 billion from individuals in the first quarter of 2022, which is an increase of $585 million or 38 percent compared to the same period of 2021.

At the same time, banks sold $1.73 billion to individuals, which is an increase of $709 million or 69 percent compared to the first quarter of 2021.
