TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 19. The newly appointed Ambassador of Canada to Uzbekistan Christopher Duggan has presented his credentials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov wrote on his Telegram channel, Trend reports.
"Uzbekistan and the Central Asian countries are actively pursuing foreign policy, with the region's global role expanding. We see great unrealized potential in the ties between Uzbekistan and Canada," the minister stated.
He also wished Ambassador Duggan success in enhancing bilateral relations and fostering new opportunities for cooperation between the two nations.
Christopher Duggan commenced his tenure at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 2002. He has served as the director of the Middle East, Africa, and Climate Change Division at the Privy Council Office and as director of the Security and Defence Relations Division at Global Affairs Canada, in addition to several roles in foreign policy and trade. He has served abroad in Romania, Jamaica, and Nigeria and held the position of deputy director of the NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine from 2019 to 2021. He most recently served as the director general at the Department of National Defense.
