Iran is currently constructing a forced labour camp in the capital Tehran for drug-smuggling related prisoners, head of Iran's Prisons Organisation said on Friday.

"In case of there being no fund shortages, the construction operation will be finished in four months, the IRNA News Agency quoted Gholamhosseini Esmaeili as saying.

"Iran has already inaugurated two such forced labour camps in Isfahan and Khorasan Razavi provinces," he added.

"Constructing three labour camps in Tehran, Kerman and Sistan and Balouchestan provinces would cost 1.2 trillion rials ($37.5 million based on the USD price on the free market)," Esmaeili said.

"Some 700 billion rials ($21.87 million) of the mentioned amount have been allocated to the projects during the previous administration period," he said, adding the aforementioned amount has not yet been paid to the contractor.
